Spider

She is seductive like a rose
peeling her petals back one by one
and you inch closer,
enraptured by the fragrance,
desperate to touch each
silky layer as it falls to the floor
She smiles sweet,
plays nice as she wraps you
in strands of gossamer webs,
a spider pretending to be a butterfly
Reeling you in with tongue
and teeth ready to spit you back out
Her elegant fingers stroking,
spinning pretty fantasies with one hand
while yanking the ground from under you
with the other
and when her petals fall away,
the last of the velvet
meeting the dry dirt
and the webs held tight around you,
you see she is nothing but thorns
